Designer Profile

Colleen Kinder, ASID, Platinum Coast Designs, Inc. began her design career at Indiana University, Bloomington. She graduated with a BS in Interior Design and was presented the Outstanding Senior award in her major.
Colleen has a strong background in prominent residential and commercial work, lighting design, historic preservation, model homes, and kitchen and bath design. She also spent time volunteering with the LPCI helping promote historic preservation in Illinois.
After a hiatus from the field (working in corporate training, sales and marketing), Colleen re-entered the design industry in 2005 with gusto by passing the NCIDQ on the first try and starting her own interior design firm, Platinum Coast Designs, Inc. Her company portfolio includes both residential and commercial projects. As an Illinois licensed Interior Designer, Colleen is a member of ASID and participates in grading NCIDQ exams. She is a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and a native of Lake Forest, Illinois.
In October 2008, Colleen won the 2008 Ones to Watch award which is given to Chicago’s hottest new up and coming designers and was featured in CS Interiors. In 2009, The Academy of Country Music awarded Joe’s Bar, fully designed by Colleen Kinder, the Nightclub of the Year award. Again, in 2011, The Academy of Country Music awarded Joe's Bar, the Nightclub of the Year award which was a tremendous honor.
In the fall of 2010, Colleen was invited to design a vignette for the Merchandise Mart International Antiques Fair based on her vast experience and expertise in antiques.
Colleen equates her success and happiness with her career by surrounding herself with wonderful clients and outstanding experts and mentors in the design industry.
