Designer Profile

Whether working with a luxury penthouse or farmhouse retreat, my firm creates a distinctly serene and gracious ambiance that helps define the client's personal style. We specialize in new construction and renovation.

Madeline Gelis has been designing select interiors - traditional, transitional, contemporary and eclectic - for over 35 years. Rather than respond to fashion trends, my firm is dedicated to creating sophisticated, comfortable interiors inspired by smart use of space and accents, and subtle blending of textures and colors. The look of these serene interiors is earthy and elegant.

Madeline Gelis is a longstanding member of the American Society of Interior Designers and has served on the board of governors of the Chicago-based Harrington College of Design, her alma mater, where she taught design courses. Dedicated to preserving the area's many rich architectural and historic treasures, she active in Landmarks Illinois, the state's leading voice for historic preservation.

Beginning in the corporate arena, Gelis evolved into residential properties, which is now her firm's trademark. As interior designers, Gelis and her team are inspired by the refreshing assortment of projects on which they collaborate - from an 1880's Chicago Gold Coast residence requiring total renovation to a small contemporary high-rise condominum on Chicago's Astor Street.

Projects include numerous designs in Chicago's most prestigious suburbs, Winnetka, Glencoe, Lake Forest, Wilmette, Evanston, Kenilworth, Highland Park, Northfield, Hinsdale and Naperville, as well as out-of-state interiors in Carmel and San Francisco, California, Bozeman, Montana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pinehurst, Arden, Raleigh and Charlotte, North Carolina, Nashville, Tennesee, New York and New Jersey.
